The maverick Michael Dunlop has been named as the first star to ride at the Mallory Bike Bonanza, being held on the 30th and 31st July 2016.

The Ballymoney rider and titleholder of the second fastest lap around the Isle of Man TT is the first announcement of many ahead of the July event, with more names from the hotly anticipated star line up to be publicised in coming weeks.

The 11 times TT race winner will take to the track (on Sunday only) in the Mallory Masters parade on an MV Agusta 500 Three, the machine famously rode by Giacomo Agostini, and now owned by John Chapman off Lincolnshire. Michael will also make guest appearances throughout the weekend.

This year’s event, organised by the circuit’s management team, Real Motorsport Limited, will not only be a celebration of all things bikes but will also be the celebration of 60 years of Mallory Park Circuit.

Natalie Hansard, Manager at Real Motorsport Ltd said: “We are really excited that Michael will be joining us for the Mallory Bike Bonanza in July and it will be great to see him taking to the track on such an iconic motorcycle. This is only the 3rd year of the Mallory Bike Bonanza so to have such a prominent personality signed up to attend only proves what a well-established event the Bonanza is becoming.

As Mallory Park turns 60 this year we want to commemorate the circuits successes from the past six decades, and with the Bike Bonanza being the biggest event on the calendar, it is fitting to celebrate our milestone birthday at this event.”

The Mallory Bike Bonanza will feature road bikes parades on Saturday and race bikes parades and ICGP races on Sunday, with a classic charity trial taking place on Saturday afternoon. Away from the track motorcycle owners clubs will return to Club Central promising to display a great array of motorcycles from many different manufacturers and eras. Also, the entertainment tent will be back with live music from local bands on both Friday and Saturday evenings.

Entry forms for the parades are available to download through the Mallory Park website. Admission tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday 4th March. The annual Mallory Bike Bonanza will return to the Midlands circuit on the 30th and 31st of July 2016, it has been confirmed.

The 2016 Bike Bonanza, now entering its third year, will be held over the weekend of the 30th and 31st of July, and will play a part in celebrating Mallory Park Circuits 60th birthday.

The event, organised by the circuits management team Real Motorsport Limited, promises an array of interesting bikes and sidecar outfits that will be seen taking to the track in parades throughout the weekend. Saturday is all about PR5 road machines, whilst Sunday focuses on PR6 race machines, and the highly anticipated Mallory Masters parade.

Away from the track, the Owd Codgers Motorcycle Club have confirmed their return to hold a Classic Charity Trial on Saturday. The trial will one again take place on the former Moto-x course, and with entries limited to 50 riders, it is expected to fill up fast!

In addition to the track and trial activities, there will be lots more to keep you entertained during the weekend, including Club Central displays, trade stalls, live music, autograph sessions, licensed bar and an open paddock to get up close to .

Natalie Hansard, for Real Motorsport Limited says: “We are delighted that the Bike Bonanza is now a solid fixture on the circuit calendar, albeit slightly later in July than originally planned due to clashes with other National and International events.”

“Mallory Park turns 60 next year, and what better way to celebrate than with the Bonanza! We want the Bonanza to be a real celebration of everything that Mallory Park has achieved over the past 60 years, but also to demonstrate what it has to offer in the future.”

Event tickets and parade entry forms will be available in the New Year.

Organisers of East Midland Racing Association (EMRA) have today announced exciting changes that will provide some exhilarating competition in the Buildbase Mallory Trophy in 2016.

Historically, the Buildbase Mallory Trophy has been solely for 175cc-1300cc machines, and contested over 2 races at each of the six Championship rounds.  However, revised eligibility criteria coming into effect next year will allow entries from 2 separate classes, both competing for the same Championship Title.  Entries will be accepted from machines up to 600cc including three cylinder 675cc, and 601cc up to and including 1000cc machines.

The new format will see all riders lining up on the same grid, with the top ten finishers from each class scoring points and trophies awarded on aggregate to the top three finishers of both races at each meeting.  The Championship winner, runner up and 3rd place will be the riders scoring the most points overall across the season.

To heighten competition further, the 2016 Buildbase Mallory Trophy will be contested over seven rounds, culminating at the Race of the Year on Sunday 23rd October, where double points will be awarded to the top ten finishers of each respective class. As an added incentive, the top three from each class will be granted an automatic space on the Race of the Year grid.

The top three riders in the Championship will each receive prize money at the annual presentation of awards in November, with £1,200, £600 and £300 awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Mark Jessup, EMRA Chairman said: “The new rules for the Buildbase Mallory Trophy are going to make things very exciting, and they will really open the Championship up.  With the top ten riders from both classes in the race scoring points, the winner of the Buildbase Mallory Trophy will be the highest scoring rider overall, and so ultimately we could see a 600cc rider win the Championship in 2016!”

Race Dates 2016
Round 1 – Sunday 20th March
Round 2 – Sunday 24th April
Round 3 – Sunday 22nd May
Round 4 – Sunday 17th July
Round 5 – Sunday 21st August
Round 6 – Sunday 11th September
Round 7 – Sunday 23rd October  Race of the Year inc. Buildbase Mallory Trophy Grand Final

The annual end of season Race of the Year event has been cancelled, it has been confirmed.

The annual event which was due to be held on the 25th of October 2015 will no longer take place. The management team at Mallory Park Circuit have announced that due to factors outside of their control the decision has regrettably been made to cancel this year’s event.

The Race of the Year, which is a well-established event held annually at the circuit, was due to incorporate the Sidecar Race of the Year for the first time, and was set to see a whole host of machines taking to the track to provide a truly varied racing spectacle for fans to enjoy.

Natalie Hansard, for Real Motorsport Ltd says: “The Race of the Year is a real highlight on Mallory Park’s calendar and an event that we are thoroughly proud to hold here at the circuit. It has not been an easy decision to make, but due to factors outside of our control, this year’s event has had to be cancelled.  The Race of the year is not something we are removing from the calendar altogether, a date has been set and work has already began on next year’s event”.

“We would like to thank all competitors for entries that have been received and interest that has been shown to date. An extended thank you to our title sponsors Santander Salt and RST, and also to the team at East Midland Racing Association for their continuing support and assistance.”

A general test day for ACU licence holders will now take place on Sunday 25th October.  A full day can be booked at the discounted rate of £115, or a half day, AM or PM, can be booked at the standard rate of £75.

The ever-popular Mallory Park will welcome back the VSCC later this month for the annual Bob Gerard Memorial Trophy Race Meeting on Saturday 22 August.

Following a racing absence last year, we are excited to return to the Leicestershire venue in 2015; the circuit has always been a firm favourite amongst Club Members, down to its grass roots atmosphere, the friendly, relaxed Paddock and superb track that always encourages top quality racing. An undoubted highlight of the day will be our annual Edwardian Handicap Race – the only one of its kind anywhere in the world – which will feature a capacity grid of quality Pre-1918 machinery for this year’s event, so it is sure to be a thrilling spectacle. Further to the track action, there will also be a fantastic Edwardian Display in the Paddock, supported by our Principal Associates, Bonhams and a parade of some other special cars of the era. The race will be part of a stunning 12-Race programme, boasting all the usual Trophy Races for Vintage, PVT and Historic Racing and Sports-Cars.

The day’s title race will honour the local motoring hero, with the event for Pre-1961 Racing Cars attracting the very finest Pre-war and Historic Racing Cars, including representatives from ERA, Riley and Cooper Bristol – manufacturers with which Bob Gerard was so closely associated – alongside other examples of prestigious marques, such as Bugatti, Alta and Connaught.

In addition to the Club’s traditional ‘Sets’, the Burghley Trophy for Austin 7s will also form part of one of the day’s Short Handicap features, whilst there will also be races for F3 (500) Racing Cars and our annual John Taylor Memorial Trophy for front-engined Formula Juniors, and a grid for our friends of the Triple M Register – the name deriving from the MG Midget, Magna and Magnette cars built from 1929 to 1936. With its amphitheatre-esque setting, Mallory Park offers some of the best Spectator viewing in the UK, with many elevated areas from which you can enjoy the action outdoors or from the comfort of your own vehicle.  Once again, those arriving in Pre-war cars are encouraged to gather in the dedicated parking area above the Devil’s Elbow parallel to the Start/Finish straight whilst you can also follow the access roads around the edge of the circuit and park up right down to the famous Gerard’s Bend.

As at all VSCC events, entry to the Competitor Paddock is free but it can only be accessed on foot via the Bridge over the Start/Finish straight; here you can get up close to the competing machinery and speak to the drivers, and also explore the Trade Stands and Autojumble.

Practice will get underway at 9.30am with racing to begin at 1.00pm following the Lunch Break (timings subject to change).

Advance Tickets are on sale now (VSCC Members: £8.00, www.vscc.co.uk; Non-Members: £10.00, www.malloryparkcircuit.com) or will be available on the gate (All: £12.00). Children Under 16 go free.

The weekend of the 11th & 12th July 2015 marked the 2nd time the Owd Codgers MCC have staged a charity trial at Mallory Park as part of the circuit’s annual Bike Bonanza.

The chosen charity was the Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance service and we are happy to report that a total of £700 was raised via the pre-registered entries alone!

A presentation of the cheque was made by the club to the charity and they were also joined by ex-racer Steve Parrish and current BSB racer Ryuichi Kiyonari.

Cheque Presentation

The trial itself was bigger and better than last year, with an increased field of riders thanks to the organisation skills of Geoff Kidd and 10 varied sections expertly designed by Bert White. This was no mean feat as the location is much more suited to its usual road racing spectacle and therefore no small amount of effort was needed by a host of eager and willing volunteers to prepare the ground for the day’s trial.

The event itself was very well received with most riders commenting how much they’d enjoyed the day. There were also a reasonable number of spectators too who came to watch the action and for some it was their first exposure to the sport. Needless to say everyone was very impressed!

The trials riders were also joined by some road racing pedigree as current BSB Buildbase BMW rider Lee Jackson rode his first trial and did very well indeed, ably assisted by Carl Baker.

Finally keep an eye out for more news as there’s likely to be another Mallory Trial announcement in the near future!

STAR OF MALLORY – 11th OCTOBER 2015 – MALLORY PARK

A major new Formula Ford trophy will take place at Mallory Park this October.

The ‘Star of Mallory’ will return leading FF1600 action to the Leicestershire lakeside venue, and will headline a new car race meeting it has been announced.

Mallory Park’s Eddie Roberts and Stuart Hicken have teamed-up with category maestro James Beckett to organise the event, which will see Formula Ford 1600 cars of all ages compete in Heats and a Grand Final. The winner will be crowned the ‘Star of Mallory’.

The duo appeared at Mallory Park last week to formally announce the event, that will see FF1600 supported on the programme by a number of races for sports and saloon cars.

Roberts says, “Formula Ford has been very popular here at Mallory Park and we aim for this event to become a regular on Mallory’s calendar moving forward.”

Beckett says, “I am really excited about the prospect of the Star of Mallory joining the end-of-season series of Formula Ford 1600 trophy races. This new event will welcome all FF1600 racers and will offer a great opportunity for many people to race a Formula Ford at Mallory for the first time.”

Adding, “I have been very keen to reintroduce Formula Ford 1600 to Mallory Park for some time. This event will start a new chapter for the category at the Park and if competitors get behind it, it will be able to establish itself as another ‘must do’ trophy race.”

Continuing, “Formula Ford remains really popular and very competitive. We hope that this event will, like other trophy races, bring the FF1600 community together and deliver a thoroughly enjoyable event for competitors and visitors to Mallory Park.”

Three-time Walter Hayes Trophy racer, Joey Foster, and Formula Ford racer, Richard Tarling, joined Roberts and Beckett to launch the event, and both drove Roberts’ Elden car on the day. The duo will both be on the entry list for October, and Foster said, “Mallory Park is one of the great tracks and I am really happy to be able to say I will be competing in October.”

Tarling says, “Everyone likes Mallory Park and I hope that people will get behind Eddie and James and help make this event the success it deserves to be.”

Full details will be released to prospective competitors during the next two weeks, including entry and testing information.
